Digital video cameras are a great security feature offered by many Columbus self storage facilities.
Here’s a short overview of how a video security system works.
Most Columbus storage facilities use at least 4 cameras. Most of the time there are more cameras to get a good view of every part of the facility. These cameras record video frames at rates of 2 to 10 per second. So you are not talking about continuous video, but a sequence of still images.
The video images from all different cameras are recorded on a digital video recorder. A 500 Gbyte recorder can hold weeks of imagery of your self storage facility, if you select a rate of only 2 frames per second.
Each image is time coded. This means that you can review the videos and see what happened at the self storage at a certain point of time.
Another neat feature of a modern video surveillance system is that the cameras can capture infrared images. Using invisible diods you can see what’s happening at the mini storage even at complete darkness. And you don’t need any outside lights.
Digital video surveillance systems are not very expensive. They start as low as $300 for a simple 4 camera system and can go up to several thousand dollars. The higher end system at the bottom of this page offers excellent surveillance capabilities for a self storage as well as for you home use. Click on the images for details!
